Damar is an incense that hails from the ancient forests of Sumatra, Indonesia. Sometimes called "golden Copal," Damar somewhat resembles Copal in its fragrance, brittleness, and low melting point.
Damar has a sweet, clean aroma with resinous woody undertones. When burned as an incense, it’s used for blessings, purification, and uplifting of the spirit. Damar is used by artists in handmade paints and varnishes. Damar may also be combined with beeswax to make a traditional medieval-style sealing wax.
Intended for true incense lovers, resin incenses offer you the purest traditional fragrances without fillers or binders. To use, burn over charcoal in a censer, stone dish, or brazier. (New to resins? Check out our detailed instructions for burning resin incense.)
